Overview
Recovers abandoned carts automatically: when a shopper leaves checkout unfinished, they get a friendly reminder after a wait you control — unless they've already completed the order, in which case the bot stays silent.
Who It's For
Perfect if you sell through an online store and lose sales to people who add items to a cart and never finish paying. Connect your store's abandoned-checkout event and this template takes it from there — waiting a set amount of time, then sending a reminder with a link back to checkout, an optional discount, and a way to ask a real person a question. It never nags someone who already paid.
Setup Requirements
- Which ecommerce platform will send the abandoned- and completed-checkout events?
- How long should the bot wait before the first reminder?
- Should the reminder offer a discount, a way to reach support, both, or neither?
- What field in the webhook payload identifies the shopper's Telegram/contact record?
- Connect your store's abandoned-checkout and completed-checkout events to the bot's webhook triggers — swap the placeholder paths and field mappings for your real ecommerce platform's payload.
- Decide how long to wait before the first reminder and set cartRecoveryWaitMinutes (defaults to 60 minutes).
- If you want the reminder to include a discount, set cartRecoveryDiscountCode to a real, active promotion — the default SAVE10 is a placeholder, not a live code.
- Press Deploy, then trigger a test abandoned-cart event to confirm the reminder arrives with the right cart total and checkout link.
Node Breakdown
- A shopper adds items to a cart and leaves checkout without finishing — your store sends that event to the bot automatically
- The bot notes the cart details (what's in it, the total, the checkout link) and starts a timer
- After the wait you set (an hour by default), it checks whether the order was completed in the meantime
- If it wasn't, the shopper gets a friendly reminder: their cart total, a link back to checkout, and — if you choose — a discount code
- If they finished checking out during the wait, the reminder is skipped silently — no message, no pressure
- If your store later reports the order as completed, any pending reminder for that shopper is cancelled and they get a simple thank-you instead
- If a shopper has a question, they can ask right in the chat and get handed to a real person, with their cart details attached
Details
Good to know
- This runs off your store's webhooks, not something the shopper types — any platform that can send a JSON event (Shopify-style or generic) works once its fields are mapped in.
- The reminder always checks whether checkout has already completed before sending — nobody who's already paid gets a "you forgot something" message.
- One reminder is tracked per shopper, not per cart: if the same person abandons two carts, finishing either one clears the pending reminder for both. A new abandoned-cart event starts the process again.
- The reminder wait defaults to 1 hour and is a plain setting (cartRecoveryWaitMinutes) — change it to whatever fits your store.
- The discount code ships as a placeholder (SAVE10) and the default reminder text doesn't even mention a discount — turn one on and set a real code before going live if you want to offer it.
- Questions from shoppers are handed to a real person instead of looping them back into a bot menu.
- No payment details are ever collected in the chat — the bot only links back to your real checkout.
Keep in mind
- Don't offer a discount code unless it's a real, active promotion — the default SAVE10 is a placeholder.
- Don't expect this to work out of the box — it only starts once your store's real webhook events are connected.
- Don't worry about double-messaging paying customers — the bot always checks order status first.
- This never asks for payment details in chat, and it shouldn't — keep checkout on your real store.
